Lost Dog Found Trapped In Storm Drain After 30 Days And Reunited With Owner

from NTA Video Stories

Spring Valley, California – County Animal Services rescued a small dog from a storm drain Monday after officers found her trapped and unable to climb out in the 600 block of Felicita Avenue. Officer Myers climbed into the storm drain and used treats to coax the dog close before lifting her to Lt. Raygosa at street level. The dog was taken to the Bonita animal shelter, where staff cleaned and fed her, vaccinated her and checked for a microchip. She appeared underweight, very hungry and had a dirty coat, suggesting she may have been lost for some time. Later that day, a woman arrived at the shelter reporting that her dog, Teddy, had been missing for more than 30 days. Her family had searched extensively, posting flyers, driving through the neighborhood daily and working with local dog rescuers. Shelter staff confirmed the rescued dog was Teddy. Although she was initially withdrawn, she became alert when she saw her owner, wagging her tail and howling with joy. Her owner expressed deep gratitude for Teddy’s safe return and thanked staff for their help.
