Welcome to in Bolden, where through Bible scripture and commentary we seek a bold fate, and in doing so we share the amazing love and message of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hello, I'm Chris Shatter. I'm an ordinary Christian seeking a deeper relationship with our extraordinary God. Won't you join me?
If you've ever read a book or article on how to better show your love to your spouse, children, friends, or even strangers, you'll invariably receive this simple tip. To write love notes or notes of encouragement and place them in lunchboxes, briefcases, a stick them on bathroom mirrors or even on random cars. But did you know that God has done the same for us throughout these last thousands of years? Besides showing love and encouragement to the Israelites, He has placed in His holy word hundreds of messages of love for all humankind to read.
He tells us and shows us we were created out of love. We are disciplined in love, and best of all, we are saved through His love. For God so loved the world, He sent His only Son to die for us. Not just for the Jews, but for all us sinners.
And while there are hundreds of these messages in the Bible, I've selected just a few love notes to share with you over the course of the next few weeks. Along with Scripture, I've included a short commentary from a variety of reborn pastors to give us insight and clarity into these God's love messages. These love notes from God are His sticky note to remind you that not only are we immeasurably loved, but to show your love to Him by loving others. Today's God Love note comes from John 3.16, for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
And our commentary comes from Immeasurable Love by Charles Spurgeon. God loved because He would love. When we inquire why the Lord loved this man or that, we have to come back to our Savior's answer to the question, even so, Father, for so it seemed good in your sight. God has such love in His nature that He must let it flow forth to a world perishing by its own willful sin.
And when it flowed forth, it was so deep, so wide, so strong, that even inspiration could not compute its measure, and therefore the Holy Spirit gave us that great little word, so, and left us to attempt the measurement of it, according as we perceive more and more of divine love.
