Loving Your Neighbor & Learning to Pray: Deuteronomy 3–4 and Luke 10–11 (Day 95)

What does it look like to truly love God and your neighbor? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses recounts the defeat of King Og of Bashan—a literal giant—and exhorts the people to hold fast to God’s statutes so that the nations may see their wisdom. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus defines "neighbor" through the radical Parable of the Good Samaritan, corrects Martha’s busy spirit by pointing to Mary’s devotion, and provides the blueprint for all communication with God: The Lord’s Prayer.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 2:24–4:14 – Israel defeats the kings of the Amorites and the giants of Bashan, claiming the land east of the Jordan. Moses then delivers a powerful plea for obedience, reminding the people of the unique privilege of having a God who is "near to them" whenever they call.📖 Luke 10:25–11:4 – A lawyer’s question leads to the story of the Good Samaritan. We then visit the home of Mary and Martha, where Jesus highlights the "one thing necessary."
