Loyal Love - Part 1

Ruth 1:6-18Last week, as the curtains of the book of Ruth opened, we were introduced to a bleak and painful situation. We learned about the story’s problem. Naomi has lost her husband and two sons. Though we witness pain, we also see a fully sovereign God who displays His love. The Lord is lovingly drawing Naomi and Ruth to Himself. We pick up the story as they travel from the fields of Moab back to the city of Bethlehem. We learn about God’s love for us in the midst of trials. And that God’s love is often displayed in and through the love of others.It is striking that no one in the book prays for a resolution of their own crisis, they pray for others and concern is expressed for the wellbeing of others. 1.
