Lucy Letby: Death Certificates Still Say Natural (Pt. 5)

from True Crime Today | Daily True Crime News & Interviews · host Real Story Media

Years after a jury convicted Lucy Letby of murdering seven babies, some of those children's death certificates still officially list the cause of death as natural or unknown. The Cheshire Coroner's Court has opened formal inquests into five of the deaths. Full hearings are provisionally scheduled for September 2026, pending the outcome of the Thirlwall Inquiry. The families are still fighting for a piece of paper that reflects what a jury already decided happened to their children. That single fact tells you everything about the pace and complexity of the legal reckoning surrounding this case. The Thirlwall Inquiry has concluded its evidence phase and is preparing a final report for publication after Easter 2026. Three former senior hospital leaders were arrested in June 2025 on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. The Criminal Cases Review Commission is examining whether Letby's convictions are safe. And the inquiry itself is built on a structural paradox: it assumes Letby is guilty while another legal body is actively investigating whether she should have been convicted. The families are caught between a legal system that has rendered its verdict and a scientific community that increasingly questions the evidence behind it. Some want the focus on institutional accountability. Others want to know whether the truth they have been given is the complete one. This is the final episode of our five-part series. The system that failed. The families that were failed. And the question of whether the truth has finally been told, or whether the most important chapter is still being written.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
