Luke 4:1-13

Where do you turn when you are at your absolute lowest? In Luke 4, we see Jesus enter the wilderness for 40 days -- no food, no water -- only to face Satan himself at his most physically vulnerable. Yet every temptation was met with the same response: "It is written."   Where the first Adam had everything and still failed, the last Adam had nothing and still overcame. That is the gospel. His perfection covers our failure, and his victory can work through us when we get out of our own way.   As one famous atheist once said, if people really believed they had the cure for eternal damnation, he would expect them to say something.
