from Good Journeys with Ben Veal and Sarah Moon · host Second Mountain
In this episode of Good Journeys with Ben Veal and Sarah Moon, we’re joined by Lynne Fernquest, CEO of the Bath Rugby Foundation: a charity that is transforming the lives of thousands of young people through sport, mentoring and alternative education.Lynne grew up in a working-class community in Neath, where rugby, resilience and laughter were part of everyday life. It was there she first realised something that has shaped her entire career: talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn’t.After studying Law and Economics at Cardiff University, Lynne built a successful career in journalism, becoming Deputy Editor of the South Wales Evening Post and later the first female editor of the Bath Chronicle. But her passion for community impact eventually led her to leave the newsroom and step into the charity sector.Today, Lynne leads the Bath Rugby Foundation, supporting more than 5,000 young people across Bath every year, helping them to build confidence, life skills and brighter futures.Lynne says she’s now in the “bolder phase” of life and believes the most interesting part of her journey may still be ahead. This is an inspiring conversation about leadership, opportunity, community and the power of sport to change lives.🎧 Subscribe for more conversations with people whose journeys are making a difference.📖 Good Journeys: 25 Inspiring Stories, 75 Lessons Learned by Ben Veal is out nowGreat British Book Shop - https://www.thegreatbritishbookshop.co.uk/products/good-journeysAmazon UK - https://amzn.eu/d/07TKlBPw
