Un 21 de septiembre de 1948 nacía la compositora bielorrusa Lyudmila Karpawna Shleh. Shleh nació en Baranovichi y se graduó en el Conservatorio de Bielorrusia en 1972, después de haber estudiado con Aladaw y Smol′sky, y luego de haber completado su formación con Sergey Slonimsky en 1980 mientras era profesora asistente en el Conservatorio de Leningrado. Formó parte de la Unión de Compositores de Bielorrusia desde 1974 y ha compuesto a tiempo completo desde 1980. El camino estilístico que ha seguido su trabajo ha estado regido en gran medida por la música folclórica de Bielorrusia y por la música litúrgica de las tradiciones ortodoxa y católica. A continuación escucharemos de esta compositora el tercer movimiento de su Sonata "Slutzskie Pismena" para contrabajo solo interpretada por Nikolay Krivosheev.
