Pavlo Balakin sündis kaevurite linnas Donetskis. Tema isa armastas rääkida, et pole oluline, kas oled kaevur või muusik, peaasi on sihikindlus ja visadus. Pavlost sai muusik. Kõigepealt õppis ta Donetskis, hiljem laulis võimekas noormees Ukraina Rahvusooperi kooris. Kohtudes Mati Palmiga, sai ukrainlane aru, et soovib õppida tema juures ja 2008.aastal see soov ka täitus, sest noormees asus õppima laulmist Eesti Muusikaakadeemias.
