Man rages but Christ reigns (Psalm 2)

from Edgar Andrews’ Onefootinglory Podcast · host onefootinglory

This video expounds Psalm 2 and is a follow-up of the previous message on Psalm 1. Both Psalms are foundational to a proper understanding of Bible theology, Psalm 1 dealing with our personal walk with God and Psalm 2 with God's unfolding purpose for mankind and the reign of Christ. (Video recorded under constraints imposed by Covid-19 restrictions for live church services). In a fallen world, Kings and people alike “rage” against the God of heaven because although they serve false gods they know that there is a Creator to whom they owe allegiance and worship. How do they know this? God reveals himself both through the created order (cosmos) and human conscience (Romans 1 and 2). The ungodly are angry about this, knowing that the existence of this God imposes constraints upon them from which they strive in vain to escape. God, in his sovereign power, shrugs off their attacks, and punishes them for their sin. But in mercy he does more. He establishes his own King, the Christ, upon the throne of ultimate power, and through him makes provision for both judgement upon the unrepentant and mercy upon those who turn from their rebellion and submit to the reign of Christ.
