Man Up and Remain

The principled man isn't defined by what he says no to. He's defined by what he gets to keep.Chris closes out his series on Proverbs chapter 2 with a promise instead of a warning: "For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it." After a whole week building the portrait of the principled man, Solomon lands the chapter on a single powerful word — remain. The principled man doesn't just avoid the wrong road; he inherits the right one.Remain means to endure, to be left standing after everything else has been stripped away. It's the man whose marriage is still standing at the end of his life, still present with his grown kids, still trusted at work, still rooted in his faith when others have fallen off. And blameless doesn't mean perfect: it's the word used of Job, meaning whole, complete, undivided. His private life matched his public life. Here's the great irony: The shortcut man was chasing a full, flourishing life the whole time and never got it.
