Iveris Martinez ([email protected]) is Archstone Foundation Endowed Chair in Gerontology and Director of the Center for Successful Aging at California State University, Long Beach. She received a joint PhD in Anthropol­ogy and Population Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University. An applied anthropologist, she has been working in the fields of public health, medicine, and aging since 1997. Between 2007 and 2018, she developed and taught courses on cultural competency, social determinants of health, and interprofessional teamwork for Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. She is co-editor of Anthropology in Medical Education: Sustaining Engagement and Impact (Springer, 2021). https://www.springer.com/us/book/9783030622763 Dr. Martinez has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Macarthur Foundation, and others for her research on social and cultural factors influencing health, with an emphasis in aging, Latinos, and minority populations.
