Mantissa Mix 245: Nicky Jacobs [Pulling Strings] "There's no real hard and fast theme to this mix, I think Pulling Strings has got such an obvious nod to what it should sound like - emotive heart string tuggers. I think when I first started putting mixes together for this concept, not so long ago, I stressed out about sticking two hours of pure tear jerkers together. Quickly realised I didn't have enough of it that would fit together in a cohesive way and it also sounded completely shit. But then as the concept of it all slowly starts to come together I've realised it's not actually about sticking continuous cry your eyes out bangers together, it's all about building around them that make them so special when they eventually get brought to the forefront of a mix, if that makes sense. Tracklisting is built up of a few new bits I've recently stumbled upon that I feel like nod to the sound of Pulling Strings, toward the back end there are some absolute classics that have had my heart for years that I've not had an opportunity to include in a mix before.
