Mapisa-Nqakula insists wig request was genuine

Former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula testifying at the the high court in Pretoria says she asked Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu where she had bought a wig she was wearing.Mapisa-Nqakula says she wanted a short and lightweight wig because she normally kept her head shaved and did not often wear wigs. She became emotional while explaining that she had kept her head shaved after losing her son. Mapisa-Nqakula is accused of soliciting and accepting R4.5 million in bribes from a contractor. She allegedly took the money in exchange for awarding military transport tenders during her tenure as Defence Minister between 2016 and 2019.
