Margin Call (2011)

from Celluloid Pudding · host The Celluloid Pudding Podcast

We decided to uncork April and let Spring breathe a little. Please excuse our brief hiatus. But we’re back with a film title that many might relate to, especially if you’ve been side eyeing your 401k lately. Margin Call is an amalgamation of the players and pieces involved in the 2008 economic crisis. We are happy to welcome Marty Kady back on the show for this episode, as he had a front row seat for some of the real life drama that happened in Congress for the financial services bail outs. While some may regard Wall Street the iconic film of the world of high finance, or The Big Short as more intellectually accessible, we think Margin Call is a film that has depth, and is elegantly succinct in revealing the culture and values of the financial sector. Watch If You Dare Watch If You Dare Watch If You Dare is a podcast exploring horror cinema through the eyes of a coward and the eyes of a longtime fan. Each episode, Aaron (a horror movie monster boy) and his longtime friend Derek (a lover of the dark and macabre, but a spooky celluloid coward) watch a new movie and then attempt to put their bony fingers on why jumpscares, supernatural entities, and other phobias get under our skin. Whether you’re a hardened horror expert, a casual in a love-hate relationship with scary cinema, or just a victim of a dare, join Derek, Aaron, and the occasional guest or two and face your fears. Find new episodes of Watch If You Dare on iTunes, Stitcher, and Google Play. Please subscribe, rate and review, and share.
