Marine Aircraft Makes Vertical Landing On Warship Off California Coast

California – U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducted a simulated expeditionary airstrike aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island on July 23, 2026. The video shows the aircraft making a vertical landing aboard the amphibious assault ship during the training operation. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group were underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. The training was intended to enhance their combined Navy-Marine Corps readiness and lethality.
