MARRIAGE WITHIN THE DESI COMMUNITY

“When will you marry”, asked my mum who would faint at the thought of me dating BUT, “I must find a life partner” she said. Welcome to the all too familiar and common reality of south Asians like myself who feel the sudden pressure to get married because apparently 25 is the prime age, otherwise I’ll expire by 29, God forbid 30. In today’s episode I talk about the stigma and ideas our community has around marriage such as the pressure; the need for families to be heavily involved, the lack of open conversations around dating and much more. Please take this as your reminder that marriage is a beautiful thing; it’s not for people to tell you how it should be, judge your choices, or ask you about it for that matter! I really enjoyed this episode and I hope you do too! <3  Hosted on Acast.
