Matthew: Come Meet the King: Fearing Men, Forsaking Jesus! (Matthew 14:1-12)

It’s increasingly evident to Christians that we are living in an age where if we must follow men, we must forsake Jesus. In Steve Smith’s sermon from Matthew 14:1-12, we learn that this dichotomy is not really new, as the Roman king Herod the Great faced the same choice before he ultimately rejected John the Baptist and John’s Messiah Jesus. Herod, the believer’s example to avoid, shows us the two faces of those who fear men and forsake Christ, in contrast to the example of John, who trusted in and took a stand for Christ.
