May 15 | Don’t Stop Believing

Today’s reading from 2 Kings 22–23 and John 4:31–54 invites us to reflect on what genuine belief looks like when life feels uncertain, outcomes remain unclear, and faith requires trust before visible answers arrive. Both passages reveal people responding to God’s Word in ways that reshape their direction, priorities, and future.In 2 Kings 22–23, King Josiah discovers the Book of the Law and responds with humility, repentance, and spiritual renewal. Rather than ignoring God’s Word or treating it casually, Josiah allows the truth to confront the nation's condition and lead him toward wholehearted reform. The passage reminds us that real belief does not remain passive but produces transformation and obedience.In John 4, a desperate father comes to Jesus seeking healing for his dying son. Jesus speaks a simple promise, “Your son will live,” and the man begins the long journey home with nothing but the word of Christ to hold onto. Before seeing the miracle with his own eyes, he chooses to believe Jesus is trustworthy.Together, these passages remind us that faith is often formed in the tension between God’s promise and what we can presently see.
