May 30 | Living in Freedom

Today’s reading from 2 Chronicles 10–12 and John 11:30–57 invites us to reflect on the difference between life that remains bound and life that is increasingly shaped by freedom. Both passages reveal how our responses to God influence the direction of our lives, and how formation often happens gradually over time rather than all at once.In 2 Chronicles, Rehoboam's decisions reveal the consequences of pride, self-reliance, and refusing wise counsel. The nation experiences division and hardship, reminding us that our choices shape not only our circumstances but also the kind of people we become. The passage highlights the importance of humility and remaining responsive to God's guidance.In John 11, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, demonstrating His authority over death itself. Yet after the miracle, Jesus commands others to remove Lazarus's grave clothes and let him go.
