Waldemar Bonsels wanted to teach children to: respect all living beings; be courageous; be adventurous; be open-minded; acknowledge life and death and think positively. As the author of "The Adventures of Maya The Bee", he managed to convey these teachings through the journey of the little bee, Maya.
