El 12 de noviembre de 1990, el vuelo 404 de Alitalia se estrelló contra una montaña cerca de Weiach, Suiza, mientras se aproximaba al aeropuerto internacional de Zúrich, matando a las 46 personas a bordo. El accidente se debió a un error de los pilotos y a una falla del sistema de navegación y de alerta de terreno causada por un cortocircuito.
