मधुरवचनानि

कस्मिंश्चित् नगरे विजयरामनामकः कश्चन महाधनिकः अत्यन्तं लोभी आसीत् । सम्पत्तेः सङ्ग्रहणं तस्य विकृतः स्वभावः आसीत् । एकदा कश्चन साधुः धनिकस्य गृहसमीपस्थात् उद्यानात् कस्यचित् पक्षिणः मधुरं गानं श्रुत्वा एकं सुवर्णनाणकं दत्त्वा 'अनेन फलानि बीजानि पक्षिणः प्रियखाद्यानि च क्रीत्वा पक्षिणे ददातु' इति उक्तवान् । किन्तु सः लोभी धनिकः मम पक्षिणः गानश्रवणाय शतं सुवर्णनाणकानि ददातु इति कथयति । तदनन्तरं सः साधुः उपयामेकं कृत्वा विजयरामं समीचीनं पाठं पाठयति ।(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)In a certain town, there was a wealthy man named Vijayarama, who was extremely greedy. Accumulating wealth was his distorted nature. One day, a sage heard a bird's melodious singing in the garden near Vijayarama's house. He gave a gold coin and said, "With this, buy fruits, seeds, and treats favored by birds and give them to the bird." But the greedy man insisted, "For listening to my bird's singing, pay me a hundred gold coins." Thereafter, the sage crafted a clever plan and taught Vijayarama a valuable lesson.41.भीमावतारः
