Memorial Day weekend travelers hit the road despite soaring gas prices
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
Almost 45 million Americans are traveling for Memorial Day weekend, and gas prices are not upending getaway plans. Locally, AAA found about 525,000 people are expected to hit the roads, rails and skies. The average price of gasoline is up $1.40 from last year, but AAA Spokesperson Jana Tidwell says travelers are more likely to cut back on expenses at their destinations, rather than cancel the whole trip due to the added cost.
