Messiah in the Passover by Fiona Sorbala of Chosen People Ministries on Sunday, March 22, 2026

In this teaching, Fiona Sorbala explores the rich tapestry of the Passover Seder, illustrating how the rituals commanded in Exodus find their ultimate fulfillment in the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. By walking through the elements of the Passover plate and the "purging of leaven," she demonstrates that the spiritual journey of Israel from Egyptian bondage to the Promised Land is a blueprint for the believer’s journey from the slavery of sin to the freedom of the New Covenant. -- The Passover Seder is a "living memorial" designed to make the story of redemption a personal, present-day experience for every generation. -- The four cups of wine represent four specific promises of God from Exodus 6: sanctification, deliverance, redemption, and praise. -- The purging of leaven (hametz) is not just a house-cleaning ritual but a spiritual metaphor for casting out malice and evil to walk in sincerity and truth. -- Jesus used the "Cup of Blessing" (Kiddush) to set Himself apart for the journey to the Cross, transforming the Passover into the first Communion. -- The hyssop used to apply lamb’s blood to the doorposts in Egypt mirrors the way our hearts are "sprinkled" with the blood of the Lamb to escape judgment.
