In 2009 werd besloten dat een algoritme en risicoprofiel Duo moeten helpen om vermeende studiefinancieringsfrauders aan te pakken. Op basis van een kort huisbezoek of enkele verklaringen van buren plakt Duo studenten het stempel fraudeur op. Uit onderzoek van Investico voor De Groene blijkt dat dit fraudesysteem van alle kanten rammelt. Sinds 2012 verloor Duo ruim een kwart van de aangespannen zaken. Bij ruim 97 procent van de fraudezaken gaat het om studenten met een migratieachtergrond.Welke lessen trekt de organisatie hieruit? Is hier sprake van discriminatie?
