O secretário especial de Cultura do Governo Bolsonaro, Mário Frias, em entrevista ao jornalista Guga Noblat, da Rádio Jovem Pan, se irritou quando foi questionado sobre os gastos com a viagem à Nova York. “Eu queria pegar você há 30 anos atrás (sic), o que você ia falar da roubalheira de quem você defende. Isso você não lembra, né? Os gastos todos são aprovados pelo Ministério do Turismo. Não tem nenhum gasto excessivo. E não vou ficar aqui discutindo com você, garoto”. O jornalista insistiu se o secretário devolveu o dinheiro. Irritado, Mario Frias, a exemplo de seus líderes do governo, acreditam que não precisam prestar contas do dinheiro público e falou que não iria ficar "respondendo a este garoto". Além disso "demonstrou sua pouca intimidade com a língua portuguesa. “Devolver o quê, garoto? Eu tô trabalhando. Eu fui numa comitiva oficial.
