MFL - Kidventure: THE GOONIES and HEAVYWEIGHTS

What would summer be without a little adventure! And sometimes it's even more fun when it's a "kidventure", so we're going back to our childhoods with this episode on a couple of our favorite kid-led adventure stories. The first one we talk about is probably the quintessential movie in this category - Brian's pick is Richard Donner's THE GOONIES from 1985. You know it, you probably love it, and it was most likely a staple of your childhood, too! We try to pinpoint just why this one still works for us after all these years, whether it be personal connections or just those little moments in the film that really make it special. Then Michele introduces Brian to a favorite from her childhood, 1995's HEAVYWEIGHTS! A throwback to the irreverent movies and TV shows for kids from the 90s, this is one that has really only gotten better over the years because of the important message at its core. Plus, it has one of Ben Stiller's best performances ever, AND a great dance sequence from Paul Fieg, so what's not to love?! Happy listening - and please don't put Twinkies on your pizza.
