महात्मनाम् आशीर्वादस्य फलम्

महात्मनाम् आशीर्वादवचनानि कदापि विफलानि न भवन्ति इत्यस्य उदाहरणं भवितुम् अर्हति इयं कथा । कश्चन तरुणः बालगङ्गाधरवर्येण कानिचन आशीर्वादवचनानि प्राप्नोत् । तानि आशीर्वादवचनानि तस्य हृदये स्थिरतया अतिष्ठन् । तरुणेन विद्याभ्यासं समाप्य सर्वकारोद्योगः प्राप्तः । स्वयोग्यतया अल्पे एव काले पदोन्नतिं प्राप्नुवन् रिसर्व्-वित्तकोषस्य 'गवर्नर्' पदमपि प्राप्नोत् । ब्रिटिश्-शासने तत् पदं प्राप्तवान् प्रथमः भारतीयः सः । भारतस्य स्वातन्त्र्यप्राप्तेः अनन्तरं सः केन्द्रसर्वकारस्य अर्थसचिवत्वेन अपि कार्यम् अकरोत् । तस्य नाम अस्ति सर् चिन्तामणिदेशमुखः इति ।(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)This story illustrates that the blessings of great souls never fail. A young man once received words of blessing from Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Those words remained firmly in his heart. After completing his studies, he entered government service and, through his merit, quickly rose in rank. He eventually became the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, the first Indian to hold that post under British rule. After India’s independence, he also served as the Finance Minister in the central government. His name was Sir Chintamani Deshmukh.
