The story today is of a serial killer that always took lives at night, very close to midnight. He picked bike paths and parks to select his victims. He was smart and athletic, and stalked areas in and around Anchorage... his Colt Python handgun at the ready. His murder spree only ended when an officer investigating something completely unrelated, stumbled upon him, while presumably looking for another victim.
