Un estudio reciente, publicado en la revista Current Biology, ha demostrado que la fauna salvaje es dos veces más propensa a huir al escuchar voces humanas conversando (no es necesario ni que griten ni que amenacen) que al escuchar rugidos de leones, un resultado que no había sido cuantificado antes. Los investigadores, de varias universidades estadounidenses, canadienses y sudafricanas, analizaron cómo los animales reaccionaban a diferentes sonidos, que además de voces humanas incluían ladridos de perros, disparos y rugidos de leones. Descubrieron que los animales abandonaban los abrevaderos un 40% más rápido al escuchar a los humanos que al escuchar a los leones.
