According to the NIH, "Face tapping is a scientifically backed technique spanning two distinct fields: dermatology and neuroscience. In skincare, rhythmic tapping boosts microcirculation, stimulates lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness, and relaxes muscle tension. In psychology, it forms the basis of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which lowers the stress hormone cortisol and calms the brain's amygdala. I use face tapping regularly to reduce tension, alleviate sinus pressure and eliminate circular thinking or negative thoughts.
