Mindfulness - Five Senses

In this episode, we'll use the five senses method of discovery to drop into the present moment. Taste, touch, sound, smell and sight are great reminders to move your thoughts away from the past or future, and notice what is happening in the environment around you.This is a great technique to employ when you are experiencing overwhelm, big emotions, elevated heart rate, circular thinking, monkey mind, or shallow breathing. It calls your attention back to the space you occupy and signals the nervous system that you are safe. You will soon notice a shift in your breathing and your heart rate will begin to slow.I use this strategy with people of all ages to teach beginner meditation.
