MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE

Tom Cruise wants to save your soul.I don't think this is an exaggeration; Ethan Hunt (his M:I alter-ego) believes he can save all the people around him, even when he can't. And Tom Cruise sees your pain, your drudgery, your humdrum lives, every day consisting of an unending string of moments where YOU ARE NOT TOM CRUISE, and therefore, are settling. It is, I believe, his (ahem) mission to elevate us, one pulse-pound at a time, from our mundane day-to-day into a higher level of consciousness. Of awareness of the preciousness of life, He will literally throw himself off of a mountain into a train to make us feel something. Will he die for our sins (the sin of not being Tom Cruise)? Maybe? Will it be worth it? The Dads - no stranger to impending mortality themselves - discuss as we review TC's ur-text, the Genesis in the Bible of Tom: "...and, yea, verily, he will run, and naught will catch him." Oh, by the way, Brian De Palma directs the crap out of this.Light the fuse and cue the strings, it's the 1996 blockbuster MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE!
