मम माता देवता

कस्मिंश्चित् नगरे दरिद्रस्य पुत्रः सदानन्दः निवसति स्म । एकदा पुष्पाणि क्रेतुम् इच्छन् सः धनाभावे अश्रुपूर्णनयनः तत्रैव स्थितवान् ।  केनचिन् सज्जनेन रोदनस्य कारणे पृष्टे सदानन्दः अवदत् - 'मातुः निमित्तं पुष्पमालाम् इच्छामि' इति । सज्जनेन तस्य भक्तिं दृष्ट्वा तस्मै पुष्पमाला क्रीत्वा दत्ता । ततः बालकः उक्तवान् - "मम माता देवता अस्ति, यत्र सा निवसति तत्र एव मम स्वर्गः" इति । इदं श्रुत्वा सः सज्जनः स्तब्धः जातः, मातुः महत्त्वं मनसि गृहीतवान् च ।(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)In a certain city lived Sadananda, the son of a poor man. Once, when he wanted to buy flowers, he stood there with tears in his eyes. Then a man asked him, "Why are you crying?" Sadananda said, "I want a garland of flowers for my mother." The gentleman, seeing his devotion, bought him a garland of flowers. Then the child said, "My mother is a goddess, and where she lives is my paradise." Hearing this, the gentleman was shocked and took his mother's importance to heart.
