Mohini Ekadashi
from Jyotisha world · host Elena Starikova
Mohini Ekadashi 🍃🪷 Ekadashi is an important spiritual day observed each month on the eleventh day of the lunar phase, both during the waxing and waning moon. It is a time when devotees around the world fast, abstaining from grains and legumes, which helps purify both the body and the mind. The mind, being by nature not spiritual but material, is influenced by everything we consume—food, thoughts, and even our associations. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen one’s spiritual practice, make donations, and listen to the teachings (katha) of spiritual masters.🪷 Mohini Ekadashi, like all Ekadashis, is dedicated to serving the Lord. It is named so because on this day Lord Vishnu once assumed the form of Mohini Murti, a beautiful enchantress, and performed His divine pastime (lila) with the gods and demons as they were dividing the nectar of immortality—amrita. Devotees make offerings of sandalwood, sesame seeds, bright flowers, and fruits. Offering leaves of the sacred Tulasi plant is considered especially auspicious, as it is particularly dear to the Lord. On this day, devotees also worship Rama, one of His incarnations.🪷 On this Ekadashi, special blessings are bestowed. When Ramachandra was separated from His wife Sita Devi, He suffered deeply. He asked the sage Vashistha what He should do to find peace and overcome His sorrow. Vashistha Muni replied that Mohini Ekadashi is specifically meant to relieve such suffering. By observing it, one can break free from the nets of illusion, overcome mental distress, and be liberated from sorrow and grief.#MohiniEkadashi #fasting #Rama
