Cool, calm, chilled and dreamy...that's the vibe of Tiki Tribe 70, the latest collab between percussionist Denny Pelletier and multi-instrumentalist Roger Ebacher. With a history of fifty years playing together, Pelletier and Ebacher have developed a musical conversation so in-sync that the creative process is almost effortless. Their long shared passion for Latin Jazz is easily heard here, but in a new setting. Denny, who has established his career as a top-flight drummer far and wide for decades, turns exclusively to hand percusssion on these tracks, with the taste and technique of a seasoned conguero. Ebacher, known in Jazz circles for his exquisite flute work, is heard here strictly on keys, utilizing the sounds of vibraphone, electric piano, and acoustic & electric bass. Together, they have crafted a sound soaked in authentic vintage '60s Tiki texture, urging the listener to sit back, relax, and let the sound magic do all the work.
