Moon: A Deadly Blackjack Deal

from Gunsmoke: Old West Stories

In this dark and cunning episode of Gunsmoke, Marshal Matt Dillon faces the aftermath of a brutal alleyway murder in Dodge City. Vint James, who lost $750 to Charlie Brewer at the blackjack table, isn’t ready to let his loss go. With a scheme in mind, Vint uses his girlfriend to lure Brewer out into a dark alley, where he kills Brewer and steals back his money. But as Dillon investigates, it becomes clear that Brewer wasn’t just any gambler—he was onto something bigger, and his death leaves more questions than answers. Brewer had won a significant amount of money in the saloon, and Vint James saw an opportunity to take it all back. But Vint’s plan isn’t as foolproof as he thinks. Brewer had his suspicions and had planned to bring a friend, Jack Salter, known for his quick draw and deadly aim, to keep an eye on things. Now, with Brewer dead and Salter on the scene, it’s up to Marshal Dillon to navigate the dangerous situation brewing in Dodge City. This gripping story was adapted for the Gunsmoke television series on May 11, 1957, showcasing the high-stakes world of gambling, deceit, and murder in the untamed West.
