Morning — May 8 — Isaiah 53:10

Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush Him and to cause Him to suffer; and when His soul is made a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. — Isaiah 53:10This is the deepest mystery of the cross: the Father was pleased—not because He delights in suffering, but because through that suffering He would crush the head of the serpent and redeem a people for Himself. Jesus embraced the cup the Father gave Him. The pleasure was not in the bruising; it was in the redemption the bruising purchased. Here we see the cost of our salvation and the depth of the Father's love.
