But I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay. — Psalm 40:17David's prayer hits a raw note: 'you are my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, o my God'. He's in a hurry, and he's honest about it. But he also knows his poverty—'i am poor and needy'—and that's exactly who the Lord helps. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and though he falls, he won't be utterly cast down. Fear not, for God is with you; don't be dismayed, for he is your God. He will not fail nor forsake you. He may tarry in your timing, but he's never late.
