Move Towards the Mess

from oneChurch.tv · host Chris Edmondson

One of the biggest things I love about our church is that we are a church for messy people. Here’s some trivia—our first preview service was July 15th 2007 in this movie theater. We started having services 9 years ago this weekend! And here’s the thing—when we started oneChurch 9 years ago? We wanted to start a different kind of church. A church for messy people. A church for people who weren’t perfect. Who didn’t know all of the Bible stories. Who didn’t know all of the songs. We wanted to create a church that unchurched people love to attend.Because 88% of people here in Clarksville don’t go to church. That’s 9 out of 10 people who choose to stay at home and clean out the garage, wash their hair, or reorganize their bill box. Let me break down that 88% figure for you. Every Sunday, 125,274 people in Clarksville choose not to go to any church. 125,274 people. We wanted to start a church for messy people, because all of us—at one time or another—have been a hot mess, right?
