Pianista muy celebrada en su época Maria Theresia Von Paradis (1759-1824), ciega desde que era una niña, superó su discapacidad física y se convirtió en una respetada intérprete y compositora, admirada por grandes nombres de la música como Mozart. En 1783 durante una larga gira por Europa, tuvo ocasión de conocer en París a Valentin Haüy, uno de los pioneros en la integración de los invidentes en la sociedad. Haüy estaba interesado por su método: : un alfabeto táctil que le permitía no sólo aprender sino comunicarse con otros. Un año después de conocerla Haüy fundó en París a primera escuela para ciegos. Hoy escucharemos su pieza Sicilienne interpretada por Carola Zosi en el violín y Stefano Ligoratti en el piano.
