MWH 042 : A Peek Inside The (not so) Glamorous World Of Blogging With Olivia White (House Of White)

Today on the podcast I’m chatting to the gorgeous and talented, Olivia White. Olivia is the cool, truth-telling mummy blogger behind her blog House of White. Her blog is all about her ‘new mum’ journey – the good, the bad and the not so glam bits. There are interviews with inspirational and celebrity mothers and reviews of things and places that Olivia and her babes love. Her writing style is always honest, fun, transparent, entertaining and totally relatable! When Olivia is not ‘House of Whiting’ she’s franticly playing mummy to two beautiful girls Annabelle (2.5) and Theodora aka Teddy (4 months). Her long time love and husband (that’s handy!) is Jeremy. He owns his own business selling mobility aids and equipment to the elderly and disabled. Olivia’s background is in Marketing & PR where she was once a fashion blogger. Olivia loved the blog life so much she turned it into a full time job. To say she’s gaining traction is an understatement. One of her recent blog posts was shared worldwide (The Sun, Daily Mail, US Weekly and Cosmo just to name a few) and as a result, Olivia landed a freelance gig with Cosmopolitan! Snap! It takes a long time to build your following and readership – it’s a marathon not a sprint! Understand each social media platform and utilise each differently to promote your blog. KNOW your audience – when will they be online, how can you reach them and what will they respond to? Do make use of click bait titles (within reason!) to entice potential readers. Don’t get dismayed by competition – there are billions of people in the world and we ALL have something to offer. HOW TO PITCH A GUEST BLOG POST TO A LARGER BLOG Make use of their submission box to submit your piece Personalise your communication with the blog, find out who the relevant contacts are and address everything via their first name. Be sure to include how your piece will resonate with their audience. Use relevant imagery so they don’t have to source it for you. Include a bio about you and include all social links. Be CONFIDENT! HOW TO MONETISE YOUR BLOG Make contact with relevant PR Companies.Tell them who you are and how you can work together. Be selective in who you work with.Detail how you would execute your arrangement.
