During the meeting, a speaker proudly announced plans for a data center in downtown Niagara Falls. The room smiled. Others stood up afterward to express support.I sat there stunned.Finally, I said, “I’m not for it.”I was immediately told that this was supposed to be a friendly event and that everyone was there to support one another. My response was simple: I’m not going to applaud something I believe is bad for Niagara Falls.Before I left, I told the developer exactly what I thought. I told him I’m going to do everything I can to stop this project.And yes, I called him a son of a bitch. Oops. I want trying to impress them. I was trying to remind him. No one wants this outside of that room. Because this isn’t some small disagreement. This is a battle over the future of our region.The people pushing these projects have enormous resources. They represent powerful interests and billionaires with deep pockets. If I continue fighting this, and especially if I win office, they’re going to come after me. You’ll see advertisements.
