My First Steelhead
from So, There I Am... · host Travis Jay Vernon
My First SteelheadLocation: Bulkley River, British Columbia, CanadaFall 2002A discussion of the beauty and grandeur of the British Columbia landscape and the amazing steelhead that make the migration to their spawning grounds. I was very unprepared for my first steelhead trip when it came to equipment and especially rain gear. While fighting the fish of a lifetime almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong. It was a great experience and I hope that you can enjoy the adventure along with me. For those who are interested, I stayed at the Bulkely River Lodge. The people, food, and experience were second to none. I go as often as I am able now. If you can’t make it all the way to Canada to chase these amazing fish there may be some closer to you. When it comes to tying flies for steelhead one of my favorite books is Steelhead Fly Tying Art & Design by Dec Hogan and Marty Howard.I would love to connect with you all at Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube!
