My Story, My How, and My WHY

from The Mom Founders Table · host Kelsea Koenreich

The story of who I am is something I hold onto as I venture onto new paths. I thank and honor my past self because she taught me strength, resilience, and the importance of standing in my truth. Trigger warning: This episode includes sensitive topics such as drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse, arrests, sudden deaths, and experiences in jail. 💡 This episode is a little different. I am an open book, but I realized I haven’t shared my full story, only bits and pieces. And to know the whole story, I knew I needed to share every chapter. Even the dark ones.Very early on I craved safety, security, and love. Truly at the core, I wanted to be fully seen. But I didn’t know how to find it in a healthy way. Which led me down a decade-long path of self-destruction. From 14 years old and on, I thought I would find inner peace by numbing myself. I entered this phase of self-sabotage, abusing my body, and slipped into this mode of feeling as if I had no worth or purpose. Then it hit me. As I was staring at my blurry reflection in a jail cell, knowing that I made major mistakes, I desperately desired to release the shame and take a step towards finding myself. This journey of self-discovery  helped me realize…The external doesn’t change us. We need to turn inward to create real impact in our life. To succeed in life, we need to ask for help and be transparent when we need extra support. To reach impact, we need to continue to put one step in front of the other. Even if the journey feels slow at first, eventually you will realize that you are miles down a path that embodies your truth. My past taught me what needed to change in order for my light to shine. It led me to finding my person, the one who sees my authenticity, becoming a mother of 3 beautiful children, connecting with incredible and diverse women who also desire to share their mission, and ultimately let me find myself. And love every inch of who I am. 📲 I’d love if you would share this episode on Instagram.
