Myanmar Never Fall Out of ASEAN's Sight

It is hard to believe that the nation of Myanmar continues to suffer, while being governed by the ruthless and inhumane dictatorial military government. Despite the condemnation from the UN, and other nations, situation in Myanmar today is worse than ever, political freedom, social inequality and economic turmoil torment the citizens daily. Worst of all, humanitarian aids could no longer be granted access to the people, what gives? Who will be the savior for the nation? Why should ASEAN members care more about the disappointing situation in Myanmar? Gregory Raymond is a lecturer in the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs researching Southeast Asian politics and foreign relations.
