न अहं भुजङ्गः

बाणभट्टः प्रसिद्धः कविः । चित्रभानुराजदेव्योः पुत्रः सः । चतुर्दशे वयसि पितृवियोगे सति दुःखं विस्मर्तुं देशाटनम् आरब्धवान् । तारुण्ये सः ग्रामम् आगत्य स्वस्य प्रवासानुभवान् जनान् आख्यानरूपेण श्रावयति स्म । ततः सम्राजः श्रीहर्षस्य आस्थानकवित्वं प्राप्तवान् सः अचिरात् एव राज्ञः प्रियः अभवत् । एतेन बाणभट्टेन एव 'हर्षचरितं' 'कादम्बरी' इत्येतौ ग्रन्थौ रचितौ ।(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)Banabhatta was a famous poet. He was the son of Chitrabhanu and Rajadevi. When he was fourteen years old, he lost his father. To overcome his sorrow, he began travelling to different places. In his youth, he returned to his village and used to narrate his travel experiences to people in the form of stories. Later, he became the court poet of Emperor Harsha. Within a short time, he became very dear to the king. Banabhatta wrote the famous works Harshacharita and Kadambari.
