Pedagógusi, közösségszervezői és a szellemi örökség védelme terén kifejtett tevékenysége elismeréseként díszpolgári címmel tüntették ki Pécskán Nagy István nyugalmazott fizikatanárt, volt alpolgármestert, míg tudományos kutatói munkájáért Pécskai gyökerek-díjat adományoztak dr. Kovács Gábor vegyésznek, egyetemi adjunktusnak. Az Arad megyei település képviselőtestületének vasárnapi ünnepi ülésén több kitüntetést is átadtak abból az alkalomból, hogy Pécskát húsz éve emelték városi rangra. Pataky Lehel Zsolt az ünnepség végén a magyar kitüntetetteket kérdezte.
