What does it mean to be the salt of the earth? In today’s conversation, Sarah Stenson tells us, “If you want to preach the gospel and help people, you must be sharp and rub salt into their wounds.” This leads to a discussion about the importance of not shying away from naming sin as sin. You need both the Law’s accusation and the Gospel’s promise to deliver forgiveness. To top it off, it’s not up to you as the preacher to deliver the Law and the Gospel. The same word can function on the hearer in both ways.
